Looking for a good protien shake receipe to balance out your healthy diet? Well if you're not, you should be (and I have a whole host of articles explaining the reasoning behind this... feel free to browse them by following the links on this page), but either way I would like to tell you about a great tasting protien shake receipe that has been a part of my family’s healthy diets for many years. And I can assure you, everyone in your family that’s looking to add more protein to their diet will just love this recipe!
Of course, before I give away the “family secret” behind this protien shake receipe, I would like to first give you a brief background as to why protein shakes are such a great part of a balanced, healthy diet. I think Dr. Robert Kenneth of the Cheshire Technical Institute offers the best explanation:
“Everyone is always praising meat as the best source of protien, and while this is certainly true in many regards, eating a lot of meat proposes quite a problem when you’re on a healthy diet and trying to watch your calorie intake [editor’s note: That’s what she said]. Meat will provide the necessary protein, however it will also provide some unwanted things, like fat. However, if you balance out your diet by drinking your favorite protien shake receipe at least once a day, you can get all the protien you need to build muscle and live a healthy, active life, without all the trimmin’s.”
A major benefit of adding protien shakes to your healthy diet is that you can control the other ingredients that you are ingesting, instead of being forced to eat “all the trimmin’s”, as Dr. Kenneth puts it. But anyway, I’ll get off my “protein” soapbox. Enjoy the shake recipe…
Protien Shake Receipe
Start by creating a list of protien foods that you enjoy eating, and make sure to stock up on those foods the next time you visit your local grocery store or health and fitness shop. To make the shake, mix equal parts of the ingredients from your list of protien food into a blender or food processor, add some milk (to fill it out), a serving of your preferred protein powder, and blend. You can come up with some crazy concoctions with this protien shake receipe, but don’t be afraid to experiment a little to determine what flavors you like… my personal favorite is banana-nut with fresh strawberries. Mmmm!!!
